What to Bring to Your First Reading
People often delay a first consultation because they are not sure what is required of them. The honest answer is: very little, and here is exactly what helps.
A surprising number of people who want a reading put it off, not out of doubt, but out of uncertainty about what is expected of them. They imagine they need to prepare something, to know the right questions, to have documents in order, and rather than get it wrong they simply wait. So let me remove that particular obstacle, because it is the easiest one to clear. A first reading asks very little of you, and what it does ask is simple to gather.
What you bring depends a little on what you are coming for, so let me take the three in turn.
For a BaZi reading
A BaZi reading is built from your birth, so the one thing that genuinely matters is accurate birth data. Your date of birth, your place of birth, and, as precisely as you can manage, your time of birth. The time is the detail people most often lack, and it is worth a little effort, a hospital record, a birth certificate, a parent's memory, because it sharpens the whole reading and even affects the timing of your life's chapters. If you truly cannot find it, come anyway and say so. There is honest work that can be done with an uncertain time, as long as we both know it is uncertain.
Beyond that, bring the decision or question actually on your mind. You do not need to phrase it cleverly. A reading is far more useful when it is pointed at something real you are weighing, a move, a change, a choice, than when it is left to wander in the abstract.
For a Feng Shui reading
A Feng Shui reading is built from your space, so here the useful things are a floor plan of the property and a sense of how it faces. A floor plan need not be architectural, a clear layout is enough, and the facing can be confirmed with a compass reading, which the practitioner will guide. For the fullest reading, the birth data of the main occupants helps too, since the people and the place are read together.
And, as with everything, bring the real situation. Whether you are settling into a new home, troubled by an old one, weighing a purchase, or simply want the space you have read properly, saying so plainly shapes the work.
For a Qimen question
A Qimen reading asks the least of all. It needs only a genuine, specific question, the actual decision or timing you are turning over. Not will everything be fine, which is too vague for any honest instrument, but the real choice in front of you. Bring that, and there is something precise to read.
The one thing that matters most
Across all three, the most valuable thing you can bring is not a document. It is honesty about what you are actually here for. The people who get the most from a reading are not the ones who have studied the subject or prepared the perfect question. They are the ones who arrive with a real situation and speak plainly about it. Everything else, the dates, the floor plan, the compass, is just the raw material. The reading itself works best when it is aimed at something true.
No preparation required, only presence
So if you have been waiting until you feel ready, or until you understand the subject well enough, please stop waiting. You do not need to understand Feng Shui or BaZi to benefit from them, any more than you need to understand medicine to see a good doctor. You need your birth details or your floor plan, the real question on your mind, and a willingness to speak openly. That is the whole of it.
